I was chosen to assist Chikotita (Campus Radio Baguio’s Program Director) for the event Bulaklakrock 2009 – Year 5. It was fun and at the mean time, overwhelming (with lots of freebies from the event’s sponsors, especially The Bar – Always Open).
Actually, I don’t know where to start. I am still being bombarded by all the experiences that happened last Saturday (18 February 2009).
4:00 PM. Sir Boom chose five students from BC132 class (Pinky, Reg, Erwin, Dianne, and me) and three from acquaintances (Washu, Janela , and Cha). Excited for the event, some of us arrived early (and I’m one of them). Some of us, however, were late.
And so at four in the afternoon, the stage was ready for the event. We just waited for the event to start at 6:30PM. While waiting and preparing for the upcoming event, we (production assistants) have some moments to discuss some issues. First is about the Crystal Cave issue and the Mayor’s take on it. Reg and his groupmates from Science and Technology in
Society (STS) class had conducted a research on the geographical problems caused by the government in Crystal Cave Baranggay, Baguio City. (Details will be published together with the group’s documentary soon) Next, we’ve talked about some issues on Glaysa and Franz’s case. I would again publish another post for this one. The other topic was on the upcoming recognition event for university and college scholars. Thank God, I was able to attain such before graduating.
6:30 PM. The event started! First, Papa Carlo (Kuya Julius) introduced the first band
performer, whom was the champion last year. The start of the event has been the start of busy times for us. For the next hours, we will be doing commands and duties that may stress us down: going back and forth to the DJ booth that is in the Melvin Jones grounds to relay information when it comes to technical matters, making sure that the talents are well instructed (enough for them to utter The Bar – Always Open from time to time during their performance), and conveying the gift packs from numerous sponsors of the event (Mlhulier, The Bar, and Zonrox).
10:30 PM. The event was a great success! Viewers are really promising, watching the event until it finishes. How overwhelming the crowd has been!
But one thing had mattered, we had consumed so much food (courtesy of the station) after the event. By the way, Jumping Salad had won the contest and I had no doubt with that. They are better than the guest band, Pinoy Idol’s Ram and his band. The band is great and really holds the approval of the viewers.
So, on with the food: The station had let us consumed all the food that is in the table (at Good Taste) as long as we can take. Actually, the food was really so much that we haven’t emptied our plates. Oh, how I wish my stomach don’t full easily. I just want other bites from the restaurant’s specialty, buttered chicken. Moreover, I also want to empty the bowl of pancit
canton.
All in all, I went home with a lot of remembrances from the event: 4 bottles of The Bar and ballpens and keychains from MLhuillier. But the most important of all is the experience and the I.D. and certificate that will surely remind me of the event. I’ve enjoyed it.
I would want to use this little space to acknowledge people for this awesome experience: Sir Boom, Sir Chiko, Ate Margelle (Sexy Inday), Papa Carlo, Papa Gio, Papa Jolo, Ate Harve and all the staff, and my co-P.A.s namely Reg, Pinky, Dianne, Washu, Janela, Erwin, and Cha. ‘Till next time guys!
